Saddam Was NOT a Dictator

September 15, 2006

Saddam HusseinJust like the Pope isn’t a Catholic, Tony Blair isn’t doomed and Bill Gates prefers a Mac.

Yesterday, Abdullah al-Amiri, the chief judge in the trial of Saddam Hussein, told Saddam:

You were not a dictator. People around you made you [look like] a dictator.

Mmmm.

Methinks somebody needs their medication changing or their bank account independently examining.

Dictator – (noun) 1. a person exercising absolute power, esp. a ruler who has absolute, unrestricted control in a government without hereditary succession. 2. A tyrant; a despot. ”

Might I ask how a ruler who has absolute, unrestricted control in a government and who uses that power murderously crush his own people as and when he see fit, can be made to ‘look like’ a dictator? Was all the death and destruction carried out under his orders a smear campaign to damage his image publicly?

If Saddam wasn’t a dictator, neither was Hitler.

Neither physically carried out under, but as a result of their whims, policies and sheer disregard for human life, millions of inncoent civilians lost their lives.

If Saddam wasn’t a dictator, Mr Amiri, would you care to enlighten us as to how you define a dictator, and which part of being a tyrant and a despot Saddam failed to achieve?
